Homeowners thinking about selling in 2025 should act now to capture the surge in buyer demand that happens in the lead-up to year-end.
According to Jonathan Acutt, Managing Director of Acutts Real Estate, the months before December remain one of South Africa’s busiest relocation periods, with families, professionals, and retirees moving between towns, suburbs, and provinces.
“If you want your home sold before the holiday period, you need to list now,” says Acutt. “Waiting too long means missing the peak buying window, as buyers who are relocating for the new year are already searching today.”

Many buyers aim to move before schools reopen in January, making spring the ideal time to launch a property onto the market. Listing now allows enough time for professional marketing, viewings, offers, and the transfer process to conclude before the festive season.
