The Acutts name is synonymous with property and success that dates back more than 150 years. 

It is the surname of one of Durban's most illustrious families, a family that has through the generations, contributed significantly to the development of the city and now the country.

It is also one of South Africa's top 10 real estate franchise groups, a major industry role player started by Robert Acutt in 1851 as R Acutt & Sons, Land Auctioneers and Real Estate Agents.

Today, Acutts Estate Agents is a multi-faceted national entity.  It comprises more than 61 franchises and outlets around South Africa, and offers a full range of real estate services, from residential sales and letting, new developments, and commercial and industrial to farms and vacant land, leisure and investments.

This is the proud inheritance of Pat Acutt, a fifth generation Acutt. Along with Brenda, his wife, a Director and son Jonathan, the sixth generation Acutt in Acutts, the team has ensured unprecedented growth for the company, which expanded outside KwaZulu-Natal borders in 2003. The Acutts Group has a Regional office in the Western Cape, and a regional presence in Gauteng.

Pat is as dedicated to the success of Acutts as his predecessors, who over the past 158 years were involved in transactions concerning almost every piece of real estate in Durban.  His curriculum vitae also indicates his commitment to the industry as a whole, as evidenced by his serving two terms of office as chairman of the Institute of Realtors, Durban and Natal Coast.  In addition, he has also been a national councilor of the Institute and national chairman of its Residential Specialist Division.

Acutts' achievements are plentiful. Amongst the most recent is its tie-up with Bond Choice, one of the country's "Big Three" mortgage originators. 

One of the proponents of standardized professional training for agents, Acutts established the Acutts National Training Academy way ahead of competitors early in 2003. The first countrywide SSETA-registered training provider to be registered and accredited as a provider of the Registered Real Estate Unit Standards aligned to the FET Certificate in Real Estate, the Academy and its various regional subsidiaries, under the management of Jonathan Acutt, is yet another example of the winning vision of its leadership.

In addition, Acutts is at the forefront of real estate technology and is constantly upgrading its personalized, cutting-edge software in order to ensure heightened efficiency for both staff members and clients.  This "in house" technology, known as REALMS (Real Estate Listing Management System) is a vital tool for success in property today, allowing Acutts franchises to maximize their market presence on the Acutts website and the Internet at large, in keeping with global trends and ahead of normal standards.

Acutts is also a national member of NRN, the country's largest independent property referral network.  This has allowed Acutts franchises to further expand their service offerings to clients on the move, whether nationally or internationally.
